 Native American Project

Dear Parents,

As you know, we are  studying the First Americans in Language Arts and Social Studies.  As an activity to culminate this unit each student will  prepare projects that demonstrate what they have learned.

Each student will pick one of the groups listed below and build a diorama which depicts a scene of the nations’  lives.  The diorama should be constructed in a small box (shoe boxes work well) and should be as detailed as possible.  The students will also have to present their dioramas to the class; explaining which group they chose, what they included in their diorama, and why.

As a reference, the students can use any of the work we have completed in class, as well as other books from the library, or websites that relate to our topic.

his assignment should be almost entirely done by the students with as little assistance from an adult as possible.  On the back of this note is a copy of the rubric we will use to grade the projects.

The due date for this project is Monday, November 13th, 2017.  However, any projects that are completed before that can be brought to school before the 13th.

The groups that we are learned about are the:

  • People of the Plains
  • People of the Eastern Woodlands
  • People of the Southwest
  • People of the Northwest Coast

We look forward to seeing the students’ projects! Please contact me with any questions!
