Week of February 24, 2020

African American History Assembly – This Friday, February 28th is our African American history assembly.  If possible, I would like for students to wear red, green, yellow, or black tops with jeans on the bottom.  If students have traditional African, or Carribean clothing that they would like to wear, that would be lovely as well.  We will be performing the West African “Ashay Ashay” song. Parents are welcome to attend. Our performance is at 9:15am, and again at 2:00pm in the auditorium.  We are the first performance in both shows. We hope to see you on Friday.

Math – This week students begin Unit 6 of our Everyday Math curriculum.  Students will begin learning time to the hour, and continue exploring place value and addition facts.

Language Arts – Last week we explored poetry.  This week we will begin exploring fairy tales.  We will learn about the elements of fairy tales this week.

Social StudiesThis week we will continue preparing for our black history assembly on Friday, February 28th.  We will practice our west African song “Ashay Ashay”.

Science – This week we will continue working in our new unit – Sound and Light.  This week we will continue focusing on outdoor sounds and indoor sounds.
