Releasing our Butterflies

Ray School Walk-a-thon – Ray school is having a walk-a-thon this Friday, May 17th.  All students will walk in this year’s walk-a-thon. We are asking all families to set up a Dojiggy account and ask friends and families to contribute through their Dojiggy page.  Each classroom is a team, and we would love for room 212 to play a leading role in this year’s fundraiser. Here is the link for setting up your dojiggy account: http://rayschool.dojiggy.com

Math – This week students will take the Unit 10 test on Monday. Study packets were sent home last week.  After the test students will begin working on 11 which focuses on word problems and multi-digit subtraction. Students can also continue their independent learning at home by visiting mobymax.com.  Our school is listed as Ray elem, and students know their online usernames and passwords.

Language Arts – This week, we will continue working with suffixes, affixes, and prefixes to help students master new vocabulary words.  In addition, students will work on scientific texts. Students can also continue independent reading practice at home on Headsprout.com.  The class username is mmwebb1. Students know their individual passwords once on the class website.

Social Studies – This week we will continue with our Passport unit.  If you would like to present a country that you have lived in or visited with our class, please email me at mmwebb@cps.edu and we will set up a time for you to present a country to us..

Science – Students should all be working on their “save the insects” brochure.  Directions for this project were sent home last week, and are active on my blog.  Projects are due at school on Friday, May 24th.  Last week we said goodbye to our butterflies and released them into nature. This week we will continue our new insects and plants unit.  This week we will learn about the difference between insects and bugs.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at mmwebb@cps.edu.
