Week of February 18th, 2019

Math – This week students will begin working in Unit 7.   Students will be able to describe patterns in numbers and counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. Students will use this skill to connect to multiplication. Students can also continue their independent learning at home by visiting mobymax.com.  Our school is listed as Ray elem, and students know their online usernames and passwords.

 

Language Arts – This week, we will continue our character studies unit.  Our reading skill this week is identifying character traits, and understanding how major events affect characters.  Students can also continue independent reading practice at home on Headsprout.com. The class username is mmwebb1. Students know their individual passwords once on the class website.

 

Social Studies – We will continue listening to our African American history quilt square presentations this week.  In addition, we will begin practicing the Negro spiritual “Wade in the Water”. We will perform this at the school’s African American history assembly later this month.  Students will continue learning about Frederick Douglass and the abolitionist movement.

 

Science – This week students will continue our new Science unit – Earth Movements.  This week students will be introduced to glaciers and convection currents. Students will also begin to learn about glaciers and how they move across our Earth.
