Happy New Year!!

Snacks – We are in need of snacks.  If you have not donated snacks in a while, please consider sending some in.  We have 25 students in our class.

Ear Buds – At the beginning of the year all students had ear buds or headphones to use on our iPads.  Many of the ear buds have broken. Please ask your student if they need a new pair of ear buds or headphones.  If they do, please purchase a pair for them.

Math – This week students will begin working in Unit 5, which focuses on Geometry.  This week, students will learn about attributes of shapes, points, line segments, and parallel lines.  Students can also continue their independent learning at home by visiting mobymax.com. Our school is listed as Ray elem, and students know their online usernames and passwords.

Language Arts – We will continue working with non-fiction.  Our reading skill this week is determining the main idea.  Students will use details in the story to help figure out the main idea.  Students can also continue independent practice at home on Headsprout.com.  The class username is mmwebb1. Students know their individual passwords once on the class website.

Social Studies – This week students will begin our African American history unit.  Students will begin learning about Harriet Tubman.

Science – This week students will begin our new Science unit – Earth Movements.  This week students will discuss what they already know about the earth’s movements, and discuss what they’d like to learn about the earth’s movements.
