Welcome Back to School!!

September 4, 2018

I am very excited for this new school year, and I hope that you will find the information below helpful.

Each student has received a folder. All important papers and homework will be sent home in this folder each night. At the beginning of every week, I will put the Weekly Overview in each student’s folder. For your convenience I will also publish it on my blog which can be found on the Ray school website – http://rayschool.weebly.com/
The folders will be checked each day at school. I will be checking for completed homework assignments, forms, and any notes that you may have written to me or someone else at Ray school.
I can be contacted through e-mail at mmwebb@cps.edu or through the Ray school website at http://mmwebb.cuipblogs.net/

Each night your child should read (or be read to) for a minimum of 20 minutes. Once we get into our routines, the students will receive homework every night Monday – Thursday. There may be homework over the weekend, on rare occasions. You will be notified of all homework assignments through our weekly overview.

Important Forms
PLEASE complete the Family Income Information Form. If you do not wish to share the information that is asked for on the form, please write your child’s name at the top and then write Not Applicable across the form. This way, we will have a record of your having returned the form.
Emergency Forms: It is very important that all families complete the emergency form as soon as possible and return it to me, so that the school will be able to contact you in the event of an emergency.

School Fees

This year the school fee for all students is $85.00. Please pay this fee as soon as possible. This fee does not include field trips. Please let me know if you are interested in paying in installments.

It is important for the students to arrive at school every day on time. Any students who arrive after 8:45am must get a tardy slip from the security desk before coming to the classroom. Please remember that when your child returns to school from being absent, that you must send a note for the office, so that the absence may be excused. The office will not excuse any absences without a note signed by the parent.

Students will be dismissed each day at 3:45. It is very important that students be picked up on time. Students who are not picked up at 3:45 will be taken to room 306 to wait for their designated caregiver.

All birthdays for the month will be celebrated on the last Friday of the month at the end of the day. CPS has a food policy which does not allow us to accept cupcakes, or other sweets for birthday celebrations. Please consider sharing a healthy snack to celebrate your child’s birthday, or donating an item to the classroom instead. Donations of a game for the classroom, book, or other item are just as appreciated by students.

Parent Volunteers

If you are interested in volunteering in my classroom, or at Ray school this year, please visit https://cpsparentu.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=319488&type=d. This year CPS is mandating that all volunteers in any CPS building complete process before chaperoning field trips, or doing any other project in the school. Once you complete the volunteer process, please let me know if you would like to volunteer in the classroom. There will be many opportunities to volunteer throughout the year. From time to time, I also have some take home volunteer activities for families that are interested.

Please don’t hesitate to drop me a note or email with your comments, questions, or concerns!

Ms. Webb & Ms. Montney
