Week of March 5th, 2018

Math – This week we will finish Unit 6 and start reviewing for the unit test students will take on Tuesday.   Students will receive a study packet on Monday to complete and return on Tuesday.  We will begin Unit 7, which focuses on whole number operations and measurement data. Students will also continue learning how to subtract multi-digit numbers.  Finally, students will continue their individualized small group math instruction and Mobymax.  Students may work on their Mobymax at home as well as at school.   

 

Language Arts – This week we will focus on understanding characters while reading our story, My Name is Gabriela. Students will continue writing their persuasive writing pieces. Students will take a reading and vocabulary test this Friday on the reading selection.  Finally, students will continue their individualized reading on Raz-Kids.com and Moby Max reading.

Vocabulary words: accept, express, taught, grand, pretend, prize, wonder, fluttering      

 

Social StudiesThis week we will continue our new social studies unit called Ancient Civilization: China. Students will continue learning where China is located in relation to other countries on a world map, as well as a map of Asia. Lastly, we will begin mapping key features focused in our unit on a country map of China.    

 

Science – This week we will continue our Earth’s Systems unit, All About Earth: Landforms and Changes.  Students will receive their third student booklet focusing on bodies of water. Students will draw bodies of water and sort landscapes covered in our unit.
