Week of February 26th, 2018

Math – This week we will continue working on Unit 6 which focuses on analyzing and organizing data.   Students will be introduced to partial sums addition and subtracting with and without base-10 blocks.  Students will also continue learning how to subtract multi-digit numbers.  Finally students will continue their individualized small group math instruction and Mobymax.  Students may work on their Mobymax at home as well as at school.   

 

Language Arts – This week we will review cause and effect and focus on understanding characters while reading our story, Officer Buckle and Gloria. Students will also begin the planning process for a new opinion writing unit.  We will take a reading and vocabulary test this Friday.  Finally, students will continue their individualized reading on Raz-Kids.com and Moby Max reading.  

 

Social StudiesThis week we will begin our new social studies unit called Ancient Civilization: China. Students will be introduced to the unit overview and will begin learning where China is located in relation to other countries on a world map, as well as a map of Asia.   

 

Science – This week we will continue our Earth’s Systems unit, All About Earth: Landforms and Changes.  Students will receive their second student booklet reading about mountains, hills, valleys, plains, plateaus, and islands, while drawing each landform in their student booklet. Students will also receive their third student booklet introducing bodies of water on Earth’s surface.
