Week of January 29th, 2018

Hot Cocoa Party and Movie – As second quarter comes to a close, our class is working hard to earn our Dojo points.  If we earn enough Dojo points we will drink hot cocoa and watch a movie on Thursday.

Math – This week we will complete Unit 5, and take the Unit 5 test on Monday.  Students will then begin working in Unit 6 which focuses on analyzing, and organizing data.  Students will also begin learning how to subtract multi-digit numbers.  Students will also continue with their individualized small group math instruction and Mobymax.  Students may work on their Mobymax at home as well as at school.

Language Arts – This week we will continue reading our new novel The Hundred Dresses. We will focus on identifying different types of informational texts, and making connections between the historical facts we are learning about in Social Studies. In writing, students will write about standing up for what is right.

Social StudiesThis week we will continue our African American history studies.  Students freedom quilt projects are due at school this Thursday.  The directions for this project were sent home last week.  In addition, they are posted on my blog.  In class, we will learn more about the underground railroad, as well as the abolitionist movement.
