Week of December 11th, 2017

 

NWEA Testing – Students will take their middle of the year NWEA reading and math tests on Monday and Tuesday (December 11th, and 12th).

 

Ray School Spirit Week – This week is also spirit week.  The schedule for the week is as follows:

Monday –  Crazy colorful day:  Students can express their colors with socks, hair, and colorful clothing.

Tuesday – Pajamas and stuffed animal and movie (3:00 – 3:45) day.

Wednesday – Education T-shirt day:  Wear any school t-shirt or hoodie.

Thursday – Ugly/Beautiful winter sweater contest day

Friday – Twin or jeans day.  Student may dress like another student in the classroom, or wear their favorite jeans.

Math – This week we will finish working in Unit 4.  Students will focus on learning about feet, inches, and centimeters.  We will also review the rest of the unit in preparation for Friday’s math test.  We will plan on taking the unit 4 math test on Friday of this week. Students will also continue their individualized learning on Mobymax.  Students may work on their Mobymax at home as well as at school.   

 

Language Arts – This week we will continue reading Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.  We will also continue working with informational texts as students work to identify the main idea and details of a text by organizing them into a graphic organizer like a web.  Students will be assessed this week on their ability to identify the main idea and details of the informational text. Vocabulary words: beware, damage, bend, flash, pounding, prevent, reach, equal  

 

Social StudiesThis week students will continue learning about landforms, and how they impact life on our planet.

 

Science – This week students will continue working with solids and liquids.  This week students will explore chemical change.
