Week of May 22, 2017

Snacks – We have run out of snacks.  If you have not contributed snacks to the classroom in a while, please consider sending some in.  There are currently 24 students in our class.

ABC Countdown – This week our letters are F, G, H, I, and J.  Monday is Fruit day, so all students should bring a piece of fruit with their lunch.  Tuesday is game day, so students can bring a favorite game to play at lunch or recess.  Wednesday is hat and hula-hoop day.  Thursday is identical day, so students should dress like a twin.  Friday is joke day.

Math – This week students will finish working in Unit 8, and take the unit test.  Unit 8 focuses  on geometric shapes, and introduces multiplication.  Study packets will be sent home on Monday and students will take the unit 8 test on Wednesday.  Students can also continue their individualized math lessons on mobymax.com from home.  If you have difficulty logging in from home, please let me know.

Language Arts – This week, we will continue reading  The City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau.  We will also read “The Mysterious Tadpole” in our Journey’s books.  This week’s vocabulary words are: ordinary, control, cage, upset, sensible, confused, training, and suspiciously.  We will take a reading and vocabulary test on our Journey’s story this Friday.

Social Studies – We will continue with our Passport series this week.  All parents are invited to come in and share pictures and stories about countries they have visited or lived in.  Please email me at mmwebb@cps.edu to schedule a time when you can come in and present.

Science – This week students will continue to give their presentations on their insect projects.  In addition, students will continue to learn about insects in class.  Our caterpillars have all formed chrysali, and will soon become butterflies.
