Week of April 3, 2017

 

End of Quarter Celebration – Our class is very close to earning an ice cream party on Thursday to celebrate the end of third quarter.  Students will watch also watch the film “Happy Feet” as our next Journey’s story is about penguins.  Please let me know if your student is not able to watch the film “Happy Feet, or should not have ice cream.  If parents wish to send in treats for our celebration, they may send in bags of popcorn for the movie.

 

Math – This week students will continue working in Unit 7 which focuses on measurement as well as multi-digit addition and subtraction.  Students can also continue their individualized math lessons on mobymax.com from home.  If you have difficulty logging in from home, please let me know.

 

Language Arts – This week, we will finish reading the novel Red  by Ray school parent Liesl Shurtliff.  In addition, students will read versions of Cinderella from around the world as we prepare for our field trip to see Cinderella Remix on April 27th. There will NOT be a reading test this week.  

 

Social Studies – We are preparing to begin our Passport series.  I would like to invite parents to come in and share pictures and stories about countries they have visited or lived in.  Please email me at mmwebb@cps.edu to schedule a time when you can come in and present.  

 

Science – This week, we will continue our science unit – Land and Water.  This week students will continue learning about the phenomenons created when land masses move.
