Valentine’s Day – Students may bring completed Valentines day cards to school on Tuesday for all 24 members of our classroom. We will not have an official Valentine’s day party, however, there will be time at the end of the day for students to pass out Valentines they have brought for their classmates.
Snacks – We have run out of snacks again. Please consider donating snacks for our students to eat in the afternoon. We have 24 students in our classroom.
Math – This week students will finish working in Unit 5, and take the unit test on Tuesday. Study packets will be sent home with students on Monday night. Please complete the study packet with your student. Unit 5 focuses on number stories, making change, and multi-digit addition. We will begin working in Unit 6 on Wednesday. Students can also continue their individualized math lessons on mobymax.com from home. If you have difficulty logging in from home, please let me know.
Language Arts – This week, we will continue reading the novel Red by Ray school parent Liesl Shurtliff. In addition, students will read the Journey’s story “Helen Keller”. Our vocabulary words for this week are: knowledge, curious, motion, silence, illness, imitated, darkness, and behavior. We will take a reading comprehension and vocabulary test on this week’s Journey’s story on Friday.
Social Studies – The black history month quilt squares look fabulous! Students will continue presenting their quilt squares to the class this week. In addition, students will continue learning about the abolitionist movement.
Science – This week, we will continue our science unit – Land and Water. This week students will continue learning about the rocks and minerals.
