Raise A Glass Ray School Fundraiser – On Thursday, February 2 the Ray School PTO will hold it’s second Raise a Glass fundraiser. Please consider coming out to support our school! Math – This week students will take the Unit 4 math test and begin working in Unit 5, which focuses on number stories, making change, and multi-digit addition. Students can also continue their individualized math lessons on mobymax.com from home. If you have difficulty logging in from home, please let me know.
Language Arts – This week, we will begin our new novel Red by Ray school parent Liesl Shurtliff. In addition, students will read the Journey’s story “Click Clack Moo”. Our vocabulary words for this week are: understand, gathered, impatient, impossible, believe, problem, demand and furious. We will take a reading comprehension and vocabulary test on this week’s Journey’s story on Friday.
Social Studies – Students have received the directions for their black history month project. Room 212 will be making a freedom quilt. Each student will study any African American they wish, and will create their own quilt square for our quilt. We are using scrapbooking paper, with the dimensions of 1’ by 1’. Students may use the scrapbook paper I provided, or any fabric or paper they wish. The directions and grading rubric for this project were sent home today. Final projects will be due at school by Friday, February 10th. This week in Social Studies, we will learn about life for West Africans before slavery began.
Science – This week, we will continue our science unit – Land and Water. This week students will continue learning about the composition of land on our beautiful planet.
